The CAT course puts the aspiring or practicing air traffic controller into the pilot’s seat. This popular course covers flight operational conditions and is intended primarily for air traffic control (ATC) students. The CAT course can be conducted as part of initial training once students reach the level of unit training.
It gives the students a deeper insight into all the challenges associated with airline operations from basic flying skills and flight preparations to air crew management. This enables Air Traffic Controllers to gain a better understanding of the mental workload pilots experience in different flight phases and thus improves overall flight safety.
The course consists of an introduction, lectures, self study and simulator trials including: Basic Flight Training in FMS Procedure Trainer, Flight Training in Cockpit System Simulator (CSS) and/ or Fixed Based Simulator (FBS), Final exercises in Full Flight Simulator (FFS).
The course is organised and conducted by Entry Point North in co-operation with Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA), practising pilots and/or professional instructors. The training locations of the course are: Stockholm/Arlanda in Sweden, Copenhagen/Kastrup in Denmark or Oslo/Gardemoen in Norway.
